Evaluation: Q3
What have you learnt from audience feedback?
Treatment Pitch Feedback
Our treatment was the first stage of getting audience feedback. We pitched our ideas of the music video to the rest of our media class. The treatment included our overall main ideas such as what song we chose, the locations we want to use and the themes we want to include in our music video. We got very positive feedback on the locations we want to use and what costumes and props we want to include in our music videos. The audience loved the idea of filming some of the video in Victoria Park. One issue that came was how we were going to make this video be directed at both male & female and different ethnic backgrounds. We then came up with the idea of using both female and male actors that are all from different ethnic backgrounds. Another point raised by one of our classmates was how are we going to add the 'motion sickness' effect to our video. My partner then researched a way to get a very similar effect on the Premier Pro program we were using which helped us a lot. Our original idea was to use the college theatre for the stage scene in our music video, however, after consulting with out teacher, we decided that it would be better to use the studio in college instead as it would be a lot easier to get access to it for a longer period of time. Overall, the first feedback we got was very positive and it was also very helpful and made us realise what changes we need to make when we make our music video.
Rough Cut Feedback
Most of the feedback on our rough cut of the video was very positive. The audience enjoyed watching our music video and some of the things they liked most were: the intensity of the video which links with the song, the wiggle effect, the added effect to the eyes, the close up shots of the statue. One point raised was that we should add more close ups of the different actors which would fit in with our genre. Me and my partner agreed with this and we added more shots of the individual actors. One other comment that came up was that sometimes the lights came up in the frame, this is something we could not change as most of our shots included the lights and could not be zoomed in because it would ruin the quality of the video. The feedback was very helpful as we knew that our music video was on the right track as the audience had many good things to say. The few improvement ideas were also very helpful because we then knew exactly what were the last few things that needed to be done in order to really make our video unique and interesting.
WhatsApp Feedback (Final Music Video)

I also received some feedback on my music video through WhatsApp after sharing my video with some of my friends. I received positive feed back on some of the effects/techniques we used in the music video. The audience seemed to of enjoyed the music video because it was intense (one of the things we wanted to make sure our video was) and the video really related to the song and the lyrics. The good use of our locations was also mentioned by the audience, this is good because we worked hard to find a location that would suit our theme and genre.
CD Pitch Feedback
We pitched our ideas for the CD and advert to our media class and got a lot of positive and constructive feedback. One of the comments raised was about using a countdown for the advert which would not have been practical for print products as you can buy it at any point and the number of days would have changed, this made me realise that I should just include the release date of the CD instead. The audience liked the detailed treatment we present and the theme of including things such as the same clothing from the music video. Overall, it was successful.
